Love Letters Contest

In order to celebrate Valentines Day we thought we’d do a bit of a character love letter contest. Here’s how to enter:

  1. Write a love letter from one Twilight Saga character to another.
  2. You can write from either the male or female perspective in the following pairings:
    • Edward and Bella
    • Carlisle and Esme
    • Jasper and Alice
    • Emmett and Rosalie
  3. There is no minimum length, but the maximum length is 200 words.
  4. Each entry must be written letter style with a greeting and closing. The greeting (Dear Whoever) and the closing (Love Whoever) don’t count as part of the 200 words.
  5. The love letter may take place in any time period past, present, or future.
  6.  The winner in each pairing (in other words 4 winners) will receive the item of their choice from the Twilight Lexicon Cafepress Shop.
  7. Send your entries to twilightlexiconcontest@gmail.com
  8. The subject of the email must have the pairing listed
  9. Any questions, post them on this entry because chances are someone else has the same question and the info could help them.
  10. Entries are due by 11:59 pm EST February 10, 2009.

  1. OH! What fun!!

  2. Can you enter a letter for each pair?

You can enter one for each pair, so yes in other words you can submit more than one entry.

  3. Yeah, same question as Lynn.

  4. Does the letter need to be in body of text in the e-mail? Or can it be an attachment?

The letter should be in the text of text email, not as an attachment.

  5. Florabella says:

    Ohh! I’m in!

  6. this is awesome! just submitted mine πŸ™‚

  7. Mine’s been submitted as well! πŸ™‚

  8. I did my entry. πŸ™‚

  9. this is such a great idea

    just sent my entre in

  10. AriLovesEdward says:

you should add one with Renesmee and Jacob!

We thought about that, but given that we don’t know enough about what an adult Renesmee is like, we left it out.

  11. It sounds cool. I might enter πŸ™‚

  12. Do you want us to put our username in the email?

You may enter under a user or real name, whatever you are more comfortable with. We will ask winners how they prefer to be referred to prior to posting their entry and name.

  13. FilDeCuivre says:

So this is just a competition for the people living in the US?

As long as you are living on planet earth, if you win we will get your prize to you. Sorry, but NASA refuses to ship to the space station :p.

  14. vampiregirlsince1918 says:

I’m in. This sounds like fun. πŸ™‚

  15. Can Canadians enter the contest too?
As long as you are living on planet earth, if you win we will get your prize to you. Sorry, but NASA refuses to ship to the space station :p.

  16. Love.Bite says:

I entered for three couples: Em and Rose; Ali and Jazz; and Edward and Bella.

    Wish me luck!

  17. Wolf Girl says:

I can’t wait to read the winning letters!

  18. Are we going to be able to read the winning letters?

Yep. We hope to have the winning letters posted on Valentine’s Day.

  19. Jessica L. says:

I understand that the greeting doesn’t count as the words, but does the greeting have to be “Dear –” “Love –” or can it be something more sincere like “My Dearest–” “Your’s always –“?

Yes, you may alter the greeting and closing to fit what you think the character would say.

  20. Can people outside the USA and Canada enter (im from Australia!)
Not a problem. It will probably take a little longer to ship there, and if an Aussie wins we would ask that you be patient with the longer shipping, but you may enter.

  21. ashley_119882004 says:

I wish I could enter but with school theres so much studying. πŸ™

  22. This is probably the most adorable contest idea EVER. I couldn’t stop saying “Awwww” when I first read the rules. πŸ˜€

I’m really looking forward to seeing the winning entries! Good luck to everyone!

  23. I entered ^_^ I can’t wait to see the winners πŸ˜€

  24. girlvampsfan says:

I sent my enty then thought do I need to include my username or e-mail or something with it. If so Can I just reenter it to you.

no need to resend. If you pick you we’ll ask what you want to be called.

  25. ooo, so excited!!

  26. girlvampsfan says:

Dis is goin to be awesome

  27. runswiththewolves says:

    soooo cute!!!

  28. when we finish putting in the letter can we put at the bottom what part of the story we based the letter off of?

Sorry just the letter. Of course there’s nothing wrong with you then using it as a jumping off piece for fanfiction and putting it up on another site.

  29. MrsEdwardCullen0491 says:

we can only submit one letter for each pair right?

correct, up to one per pairing. In other words each person is allowed to enter each category once.

  30. Switzerland says:

does it have o be EXACTLY 200 words, or just around that length?

no minimum, but a 200 maximum

  31. Good to know aussies can enter!!

    Cant wait.

will write some when i get home form school.

  32. Switzerland says:

sorry i phrased that first question wrong…i meant does the MAXIMUM have to be EXACTLY 200 words?
like, can it go over by a couple words?

    Sorry 200 tops!

  33. Alu Rathbone says:

I love the idea… but I think that Esme and Carlisle should be included… everything seems to always be about the six “kids”. Esme and Carlisle are very much apart of the family… CARLISLE started the family… (sorry I’m and Esme and Carlisle fan… just as much as a Alice and Jasper Fan… lol)

  34. Alu Rathbone says:

Never mind… I just saw them on the list… I’m a little slow this tonight. Sorry.

  35. IrishLass101 says:

I think it’s so great to heve thiis comp!!! I can’t wait to see the winning letters!! Good luck to all who entered! I’m rooting for you!
    xox

  36. Love Bite says:

So, who is judging, and what are you judging on by the letters?

The judges are members of the mod team. Spelling, grammar, the characters being “in character” (in our opinion) all count as well as originality.

  37. Jane volturi says:

    dear rose,
    emmetts to good for you

    thats my letter….yeah…

  38. 17forever says:

oooh this is so exciting! i love doing stuff like this! quick question, if its hard for people to tell whats happening in the story when we wrote it, can we put like a sentence or two about when this what would be going on when the letter was written?

Well you have 200 words. You can always start by dating the letter.

  39. is it necessary to be registred in the site, or can i participate without being a member??? thanks! Ro πŸ™‚

Anyone ( save a member/family member of our mod/admin team ) can enter

  40. Wolf Girl says:

do you need an explanation (not included in the love letter) as to when the time period is that the letter is being written?

Well you have 200 words. You can always start by dating the letter.

  41. Wolf Girl says:

i guess my question is basically the same as 17forever’s….

  42. Uhm, what kind of words are allowed and what aren’t. Like, can I say sexy, or is that bad?

Language appropriate to the characters in a love letter is fine. If they can say it on prime time network TV in teh USA it’s fine.

  43. Can we write a poem???

if it is part of a letter yes

  44. VegVampire says:

Will there be prizes other than the one grand prize?

there are 4 prizes one for the top person in each category

  45. Will we be able to see all the entries at a later date that were entered but not chosen?

Probably not because It would take a lot of time to load and format all of them. we are at over 100 entries already. However, people who enter are certainly allowed to post their entry anyplace they want.

  46. Wolf Girl says:

one more question, does the word “i” count as part of the 200 words? i have a bunch of them in my letter…thanks so much for answering my previous question! <3

“I” is a word, it counts

  47. So will we be disqualified if there is something misspelled or anything like that? Just curious cuz people make mistakes sometimes.

It would go to overall impression, but it wouldn’t be a disqualification.

  48. I’m a huge Volturi fan, could we do one for them? Mayeb not in this competition but in some other competition or something.

    Volturi need some love too

We might do something Volturi themed in the future.

  49. how will you contact the winner?

    by email
