Taylor Lautner Breaks His Silence, and Twilighters Rule on MTV

Taylor talks to MTV about the Jacob Black casting controversy.
Based on our own poll 63% of you want Taylor to continue in the role he started for the remainder of the films. He seems to have won over the heart of fans many of whom were very skeptical before seeing the film with variations of "Drown the Sharkboy" abounding.
MTV has also named its Woman of the Year, and actually it’s more like Women of the Year because it’s the female Twilight fandom as a whole. Twilighters are MTV’s Woman of the Year.

They just shouldn’t replace Taylor. I hate when movie sequels don’t have the same characters. And I didn’t like Taylor as Jacob in the beginning… I thought the boy playing Embry made a better Jacob… I think since the budget is WAY bigger (50 mil is it?!) They will have NO PROBLEM making Taylor look like Jacob. In New Moon Jacob shaves his head, so at least we won’t have to see that dang wig much…lol
I watched the Golden Compass last night and I’m extreeeeeeeemly excited to see how New Moon turns out. I’m also pretty sure I’m not the only one who thought the Twilight movie seemed a lil cheesy and forced at times… I’m glad Catharine stayed very true to the books, but with a bigger budget the next installment can be better.

i have to admit i wasn’t initially thrilled that taylor would be playing jacob, but i feel like one he shaves his head in newmoon we will really get to see beyond that horrible wig and see his true acting ability, not to metion his insanely amazing sexiness !
… if he isn’t jacob .. i don’t think i will enjoy the movie as much

For me, this whole Taylor issue has to do with Summit’s integrity. I think Summit should not have hired anyone for a role in Twilight if they weren’t sure that they could make it thru the series. They obviously had some expectation for a sequel and should have planned casting accordingly. Taylor has been a great “employee” both in his acting and promotion of Twilight. I’m totally team Edward, but Jacob has such a big role in the coming films that I think this decision will help make or break it for the fans. Personally, I love all things Twilight, but I’m not sure I’d even want to see New Moon if Summit drops Taylor. Also, Summit should take note from Twilight’s success and place more funds into New Moon, it WILL pay off if they do it right.

Great, just great..
I do like Taylor BUT after seeing this video It STILL shows that NO MATTER how much he wrkds out he STILL looks 16.That hasnt changed AT ALL. PLUS his voice sounds like a childs. UGH…I DONT WANT THE OLDER JACOB ENDING UP LOOKING AND SOUNDING LIKE A 16 YEAR OLD BOY THAT JUST WORKED OUY NON STOP.NOOOOOOOOOOOO

Jacob is supposed to look like he’s in his mid 20’s… Taylor looks like he’s 12… If you all want a crappy movie cause most of the budget went to making someone who was in the first movie for 10 minutes then that’s really sad… I say recast and make an awesome movie that follow the story line…

taylor plays the part very well, but i wont have a huge problem with them replacing him. as long as the new replacement fits jacob im ok.if they do replace him, i hope they at least have a flashback of taylor! i still want to see taylor in new mooon!!

Thank God he’s dedicated to Jacob we need someone who has studied the character they want to portary like the two leads, a lot of people are praying for him. He shouldn’t have to campaign through this humilation for something that should already be his. Go Taycob!

Hmm….well I haven’t watched the video because I’m at work, (plus I hate the way he talks) but can I just say WHOA…Taylor is looking GOOD! He looks SO MUCH BETTER with a little weight on him! I was all Team New Guy before, but I think he might be able to pull it off! Maybe with a little make up to make his face look like it has more defined features (because he does have kind of a baby face) this will be enough to make him look a bit older. Shaved head is a must, that wig was awful.

Well he does look a bit older so, who knows maybe by the time filming starts he can pull it off, but please keep Taylor. Otherwise it’ll mess up the whole Jacob thing. I mean I can’t see anyone else as Jacob. Oh, and even though Jacob is supposed to be older, in the books he still acts like he’s 16. He’s still a teen at heart. Just because he looks older doesn’t mean he is. I think only Taylor can do that. So please just keep Taylor as Jacob.

i really love taylor! he’s too young for me but i’m not going to lie, he looks really good! and he is in his growing stage so yeah…if you guys didn’t know michael copon is FILIPINO…. about that..yeah.. keep him!…i hope they dont change him because teenagers will kick some summit ass….plus they already have all this taylor merchandise so they’ll lose money…. i just think they’re crazy…. but if they want to replace him… PLEASE DO IT FOR STEVEN STRAIT! him and rob in one movie! i feel bad for taylor, because despite not being a fan of his in the beginning–i do think he pulled off Twilight’s Jacob very well. the wig was a little weird, and i thought embry also made a better jacob appearance-wise, but his acting was done well and his smile was indeed brightening. i’m just not sure he can do new moon. i have no opinion on Copon, don’t know anything about him. i do think they should recast to an older actor for this movie. i appreciate taylor for his work, i really liked his role in the first movie, but he still looks too young. fit and in excellent shape, admittedly, but his face is just too young.
ultimately, i care about the quality of the picture. if taylor can make me believe he’s New Moon’s older/bigger jacob, then i back him. i just want that role to be considered very carefully since jake is such a huge part of the story.
that’s just my opinion.

I would be ALL for Taylor IF they could ALSO change his VOICE.Can they do that. I did want a NEW person to play Jacob and i think Taylor DOES LOOK better and i dont think the older Jacob HAS to be 6′7″. I would be all for it ONLY IF they can make his Facail Features look OLDER ALONG with his VOICE. THAT would be sooo WEIRD to have him LOOK OLDEr but STILL SOUND like he is 12 it WOULD NOT GO TOGETHER,AT ALL. CAN they change his voice to NOT sound like a child to fit the Body Image he is SUPPOSED TO prtray? I dont think so.

Hopefully Taylor gets to be in New Moon becaues I’m going to feel so bad for that kid if he doesn’t. He really wants the part!

I HAVE TO ADMIT that Taylor IS starting to grow on me and He is a sweeetheart!
BUT unfortunantly I HAVE to sat THAT the video of him had the OPPOSTE affect on me adn Just proved to me even more so looking at him even AFTE he has gained 20 pounds,That even with ALL that weight gain and bulking up and NO MAATER how MUCH MORE he does it didnt make him Look ANY OLDET whatso ever AT ALL. His face looks EXACTLY the same. I dont think he needs to be 6′7 AT ALL and he does look WAY good. BUT HE STILL LOOKS LIKE A CHILD TO ME TOO.AND WHAT? Wow Taylor already is looking older in that MTV interview. That baby face is gone! If I didn’t know how old he was, I wouldn’t think he was 16 now. It’s super sheisty if Summit ditches him, and I will feel so incredibly bad for him. I love Taylor, and I think he plays a great Jacob. I’m really really anxious to see how he does the angsty, moody bits of Jacob in New Moon, if they decide to keep him.
But basically, Summit should just leave the existing cast alone. I think they all did awesome jobs. Stop meddling with a good thing and go casting for the new characters only!

I really want Taylor to stay. He is so enthusiastic, and he must have worked super hard to put on that much weight! I mean, twilight wasn’t exactly super close to the books. I don’t personally care if jacob isn’t huge and looks older, as long as they stick to the plot. As long as he is there to heal bella up and be her” sun” I will be happy. I just hope they don’t make Bella falling for jacob like crazy and stuff, that would be so off. :/

I tell you, the way he answered questions in the MTV interview, and was so calm and collected on top of his dedication to do what it takes to continue to fight for this role he really believes in is more than any regular 16 yr old is capable of, heck even some 20 yr old guys don’t act as mature!
I hope Chris Weitz has that contract in his pocket so Taylor can sign it after lunch!

Taylor Lautner is the one and only person right for the role of Jacob Black. Recasting him like this is a huge mistake. Especially if the movie is very popular. Like honestly, Michael Colon is not professional and Taylor deserves the part. He earned it and yeah, if they have so much money why can’t they just make him look older.

When i first saw that Taylor was playing the role of Jacob i burst out laughing, only ’cause i was thinking of seeing something like Shark boy in the Twilight movie. But now that I’ve seen it he really does a good job and they shouldn’t mess around with a character that everyone has already seen. It would be like them changing the actor who plays Harry in Harry Potter. People would be very very angery, so like Harry Potter i’m pretty sure that people would also be very, very angery if Taylor was not Jacob Black.

I rekonn twilight is fine the way it is Taylor is perfect and he fits the role i agree he should get rid of the wig but that’s it i think they should keep him in the movie because he is the beauty of the movie! and i rekon if he goes i don’t even want to watch it because i rekon him and robert pattinson were the main reason girls watch twilight and if they change people in the sequel it wrecks the whole movie. Taylor Lautner HAS to stay as Jacob Black. There just is no way you can change him now. He has that bubbly personality Jacob needs around Bella, but then at the end of Twilight you see Taylor can have that intensity to him. He will be perfect for the remaining movies and if fans are willing to let go the fact he’s not the same height, or fans are willing to let there be special effects. We should stick with Taylor. I personally loved Taylor Lautner in the first movie and would have been devastated if they hadn’t brought him back in New Moon. I honestly woouln’t go watch it. We all love Taylor:-)
