Twilight and New Moon Movie News

MTV is on a roll today. First up they talked to Ashley Greene about her thoughts on New Moon director Chris Weitz. Then they move on to Asley becoming the love interest of co-star Kellan Lutz in an upcoming film, and then Kate Beckinsale learns that she is a vampire role model.
FemaleFirst Kristen Stewart gave some new insight to the UK-based Female First., later the also UK-based Digital Spy talks to both Rob, Catherine, and Kristen. Lastly, FiveFilm also caught up with the trio.
No news yet on how Taylor Lautner’s lunch with director Chris Weitz went today. MIchael Copon made the news several times. First he clears up that a facebook page claiming he was bragging about being Jacob Black was a fake. Then he tells J-14 he’s "dabbled through the Cliff’s Notes". We’re assuming this is a typo or misinterpretation because as far as we know there aren’t any Cliffs Notes.

His manager is quoted by mtv that was his facebook page. Cliff notes? That means he hasn’t read the books period point blank. What makes him think he gets Jacob Black? Taylor has worked his but off to live Jacob, why is this guy taking this for a joke, just some role, please this takes the cake!

You know what? This reminds me sort of Jacob Black & Edward working towards getting Bella, instead it’s getting the part.
While Taylor(the true Jacob Black) is trying as hard as he can and being the underdog, Michael(the evil Jacob) is trying without a sweat.
I dunno, that just popped in my mind. Hopefully the underdog will win =]

I honestly picture Jacob being looking Michael rather than Jacob. I don’t know. Maybe my preference is the result of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. I know it is horrible to form an opinion of an actor on some early work, but the whole time Taylor was on screen I couldn’t stop thinking ’sharkboy’. I don’t think Michael was being cocky. I think he was caught off guard while eating, and answered the questions asked while not knowing the whole story. And the cliff notes comment may have been a joke, I wish I could read it in context…

I love Taylor, but I don’t think he’s quite right for the older bitter Jacob. I don’t have anything against Michael(Besides the ‘twilight 2′ thing lol) but he’s not right for Jake either! I’m still holding out hope for Steven Strait. *SIGH* ha ha. He’s how jake looks in my head.

The written interview with Michael makes me think he is a pompous and arrogant jerk. Considering that EVERY POLL Ive seen shows that the fandom wants Taylor to return, you would think that he would realize he will not win us over by dissing Taylor! And he should also know that when you are dealing with such a rabid fan base, you should never mention Cliffs Notes (especially when they dont even exist for our books)!

I don’t think Steven Strait would be as conceited and cocky as Michael. Steven did so well in The Covenant, and is the image I saw of Jacob. I mean, Steven would do a well job as the werewolf, while Taylor can be the normal Jacob.

I HATE this guy. I’m sorry. I really tried. Reading his interview thing with J-14 just made it worse. I hope they faked that interview. That was horrible. I’m glad he seems to think he’s the GREATEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD. He just comes across WAY too cocky.
And all that crap with the “cliffs notes” and “oh gee I talked to Rob but I didn’t know he was Edward.” Of COURSE that happened. Yeah, sorry buddy, but I’m not buying it.
I hope Summit takes the smart road and sticks with Taylor, he’s putting in SO MUCH EFFORT that alone should give him the role. Poor Taylor.

I was originally thinking, that logically speaking, that forcing himself to grow would be a daunting and almost impossible task for Taylor, so I was trying to be open minded about the possibility of a casting change. NO MORE! I’M ROOTING FOR TAYLOR!!!
I just don’t see how Copon can claim he thinks this part would be the role of a lifetime and not have even read the second book!!!! Quite possibly the stupidest thing he could reveal about himself at this point. If he wanted any chance of our support, he most definitely lost it. Because if he claims to be “preparing” for the role like he says he is, and bring the character to a different level… then wouldn’t actually, oh I don’t know, READING THE BOOK BE HELPFUL!!! Ugh, I just can’t even see how playing means anything to him now.

i know that pinkmonkey has book summaries, maybe michael meant he read those notes…
anyway i’m indifferent to taylor, and i definitely don’t want michael. i’m still a steven strait fan, even tho it’s a major long shot. he’s how i always pictured jacob in new moon. after i read new moon, i started getting into the twilight online boards and stuff and was completely excited at how many other people loved him for jacob. he’s most likely the only actor that i will ever like for jacob, even though taylor did a great job in the movie and others could as well. i think i just transfer my annoyance at jacob to the actor playing him haha.

Wow, Ashley is just awesome! It’s so great that she is supporting Taylor’s return to the series, and Chris as director. I’ve never seen an entire cast so, well, anti-Hollywood. They’re all so smart and grounded, I seriously doubt we will be seeing ridiculous Britney/Paris type photos of them (fingers crossed!) If they are the new wave of rising stars in Hollywood, then maybe they signify a return to the older era of movie stars–people who are famous for being great at their craft, people worth watching, not famous for flashing and getting drunk.
Also Kate Beckinsale is gorgeous and hilarious! She curses like a sailor in real life, it’s so funny because she’s so pretty and petite, and then she opens her mouth and you’re like “Whoa! Dirty girl!”
Going to see Twilight again this weekend =)

Michael Copon just seems wrong to me somehow…And I really liked Taylor. That smile like sunshine? Taylor has got it down.
But I’m dying to hear news about the rest of the cast! I want to know who they are considering for the Volturi! I know Ben Barnes is going after Aro, and I made a photomanip of him to see how he would look, and I have to say, he looks pretty damn good!

Micheal doesn’t seem like a jerk, like some people are saying. But, he is reallyy cocky, and thinks he is SO GOOD. he hasn’t read the book, or seen the movie. He probely doesn’t even know he is a were wolf. It is just kinda sad that summit(or chris, idk who decides the cast) is even considering him.
90% of us fans hate him.

SEVERAL things i Realized about my fight against Taylor and more…
This Micheal Copon guy is annoying me more and more.
I Was NEVER really a team Taylor much either,BUT Taylor has been starting to grow on me..he is a sweetheart.
I think one of the reasons why I have been fighting so hard to have a new guy for the role of the older Jacob(and i have been one of the hardest one of the hadest fighters out there agisnt Taylor) is because Jacob has ALWAYS been my FAVORITE character and from day ONE that i new Twilight would be made into a movie I was MOSTLY curious to find out WHO would be playing my favorite character and I KNOW that most of you guys are Team Edward partly cause i also mostly just hear alot of Jacob bashing on EVERY site I go to…SO in a way I felt like it just kind of meant for to me and i felt like MOST of the peope rooting for Taylor to play Jacob never even liked Jacobs character anyway and I think thats what irratated me the MOST.I hope you guys can understand that.
When I first saw who was cast as Jacob I have to admit I was NOT impressed AT ALL. BUT I gave him a chance and Taylor HAS grown on me yes, and i think he did good in Twilight.I’m still not sure about him playing Older Jacob just cause he STILL looks and sounds SO young..BUT I think i am now ready to give it a chance at least.It won’t be easy for me but I will try. I am NOT going to be one of those people out there that say I WONT go see N.M IF Taylor is or isn’t reacast.
I am willing to try to open my mind.Give me some credit. You Taylor fans put on a good fight.
Oh and IF Michael Does end up playing the part,I am SURE he will read the book and I think you guys should give him a chance too.

Okay so I don’t like this Micheal Copon guy at all. He doesn’t even know it’s called New Moon and he didn’t even know that Rob played Edward. What does he live under a rock or something? Who doesn’t know that Rob plays Edward? He was in One Tree Hill and I hated him in that so I do not want him to play Jacob. Taylor wants this part so badly. If you watched all of his interviews and stuff he so wants this part, and he should. I love Jacob and I love Taylor so there you go a match. Summit better make Jacob Taylor because if they don’t I will cry.

Michael sais he looked over cliff notes and knows fairly what goes on in N.M? (its not Twilight 2, dumby) If he IS serious about the role then HE BETTER read the book. Cliff notes doenst bring out Jacobs personality like the book does. This is scaring me a little. I wasnt for Taylor at all either but I think i am starting to have second thoughts.

Really? Why do they have to even discuss Taylor Lautner being in New Moon? He’s the perfect age for one thing and then for another he is just PERFECT for the role. They chose him for the first movie and if he’s signed on to do the second, then he should do it!

Also, Michael Compon should just stick with dancing and cheerleading movies. He was o.k. in Bring it On- In it to Win it. But i don’t think that he’s right for New Moon.

I like to stay pretty open minded, but this Michael Copon seems like a real tool. Sure he’s nice looking, but I don’t think he will have the right chemistry going on between Jake & Bella.
From what I remember of him in OTH, he was awful.
If Taylor isn’t recast, I sure hope someone else will fill the role properly, not just hand it out based on looks.

does anyone recall that every one initially hated pretty much all of the cast in the beginning? Yet, we have grown to love just about everyone. If you are going to pick apart everyone’s personality, of course you’re going to be upset. But Michael won’t be playing Michael, he’ll be playing Jacob and HIS personality. And why does everyone turn a blind eye to how cocky Taylor is? His interview w MTV made me want to reach into my monitor and slap him in the face. “yeah…i’ve been workin’ on the guns…19 solid pounds! and a guaranteed 10 more…” what a loser. he just seems very arrogant. and he twitches too much.
but, he has the happy go lucky thing…

Taylor was just saying that because…well…he HAD to gain weight! He DID guarantee 10 more! He wasn’t trashing Michael like he did to Taylor, he was saying what HE was trying to do so he’d be fit for the part! At least he READS the books and actually cares about them!!!

I support Taylor 100%, for me he is Jacob. If they do recast it can NOT be Michael, because not only do I find him cocky, but then I’ll have to yell right in the middle of New Moon “Go Blue Ranger!” just to piss people off. *sigh* Once you are a power ranger, well I personally find it hard to take you seriously in anything else.

I don’t think Michael has the talent or passion for the book. In an interview, he said he wanted the part because “its a big role.” Nothing more to him, I guess. It just seems that he wants to be in New moon for the potential success.

With the amount of petitions and/or hate mail Chris Weitz is most likely getting, I’m 75% sure they’re going to keep Taylor. He’s gained 19 pounds(yummy, he’s got a four pack!!!) and he’s trying really hard. Lets just pray his and Chris’s lunch went well. But anyways, I have not seen one single comment supporting Copon on all of the sites I have looked on, so I think replacing Taylor with Michael will be a very bad choice for Summit. The other actors should give them an ultimatum: that they aren’t coming back unless Taylor does. They couldnt replace the whole cast, lol, that would be amazing. We know Ashley Greene(Alice) wants him to stay, and I think everyone else does to. So what if he isnt that muscular, neither is that idiot Michael Copon, plus he’s ugly and a jerk. Taylor is so down to earth and sweet, just watch some of his interviews. And not all characters in movies match the way they are supposed to look in books. For example, Hermione Granger from Harry Potter, she’s not very pretty and has messy and freakishly curly hair in the book, but in the movie she’s very pretty and has curly yet not wild hair. If they think they can get Jacob to look exactly the way he is, then they are crazy. I now read the books and picture Taylor as Jacob, replacing him would be horrible, and they probably use atleast 10% or 15% of their audience. All I’m saying is that it’s a bad idea. Chris Weitz needs to realize what he’s risking:money. Which, we all know, is all they care about.

I have to say that I have been on Team Taylor since the news broke that Summit was thinking of recasting him. I still am all for him and after reading this interview with Michael, I have changed my reason. I am now for Taylor for his hardwork and the fact that not once have anyone heard him bash Michael. I cant say the same for Michael. All he does is bash Taylor.
I’m loving the fact that he said “I did not audition and they are considering me”. This is where I cross the damn line. He acts like he has the lines right in front of his nose. Yes I have seen his acting and my 3yr old can act better then him.

I don’t really care for Jacob(books or movie), but Taylor isn’t too bad.
I’m SUPER excited for the new moon, dont worry i’m not an obsessed freak that doesn’t know how long it takes to make a movie.(I’m a HP fan too)

One of the reasons why people think it woud be a bad movie if Talyor is reaplaced is becaseu thye hav grown to be big taylor fans. But I dont get why it would be a surprise or a bad move if he doesnt end up really fitting the charcater of Jacob(if SUMMIT doesnt believe he looks it,even after all his working out.)It’s understandable.
I didnt way I want Micahel plaiing the part either. I wih they would go for a unknown really good looking older native american guy after jacob transformes. I DO like Taylor WAY more now than i did when i heard he was cast and I LOVE his dedication and how hw is trying to bulk up and he has improved big time! but it just makes me a little sad cause when i saw him tlak in the video he does lookk bufer BUT it didnt make him look ANY OLDER. he still has a puppy face and he still sounds soooo young like a 13 year old. I dont care if he is not 6′7..I would consider accepting him as Older Jacob IF they could make him at least somewhat taler than edward and somhow made his face at least so he could look 19 or 20 AT LEAST..he doesnt even have to look 25 and if his voice was lower. If they could do this without having t spend alot of money..than I would be all for it. Other wise..I am for Team New Guy.
