    In the News

    By Twilight_News | December 25, 2008

Celebrity Love Blog Robert Pattinson ( as if we didn’t know ;p) is one of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywood.

The Singapore Twilight fans have hit the news there again as the movie continues to dominate overseas.

Box Office Mojo Depending on your source the tallies are a little different, but Twilight has secured itself a position in the top 10 selling films in 2008. Right now it is neck-in-neck with the James Bond film for the 8 and 9 position. No matter where Twilight ultimately lands, that’s quite an accomplishment.

    TOTAL LIFETIME GROSSES
    Domestic:  $161,076,207    75.6%
    + Foreign:  $51,972,151    24.4%

    = Worldwide:  $213,048,358

Speaking of overseas news, yes we’ve seen the rumor regarding the making of Twilight into a TV series in the Philippines. We thought it was a little odd that the news broke Christmas Eve making it completely impossible to verify through official channels. Now it seems the one news source initially reporting it has removed the story entirely.  So, until we can check it out when people are back from Christmas vacation next week, we don’t have an answer. As soon as we know something official, you’ll know something official.

      Merry Christmas!!

      LOL a tv series?
      That would be cool,
but also not, if it was only in the Phillipines…

Uh I think you misspelled the name of the James Bond movie. It’s Quantum of SOLACE not Solstice. That’s what all the posters say anyway.

      Thanks, my bad!

I don’t think I can think of anything worse than Twilight as a tv series.

A TV series would be cool if it was shown worldwide. It would be nice to see a series if it stayed completely true to the books and showed most of the majority of the books. Yet, again rumors fly fast and then they don’t even come out being true.
On the other hand YAY for Twilight that is doing so good in the box office.

      twilight lexicon please help us!
although it is still unclear whether there is an ounce of truth in this news, we have already started signing a petition here in the Philippines stating our dislike of the said project. Don’t get us wrong, we love our local networks here. But we don’t think Edward, Bella, and the whole Twilight universe will be given any justice by the network’s alleged portrayal of our beloved book.

i’m from the Philippines and that news is wreaking havoc to all twilight fans in our country. First of all, the rights to publish that took{rumored} about $1 million. And second, the artists asked to play the roles were unbelievable. I mean, the Edward and Bella were just insulting. There is already a petition going around saying NO to the Philippine Twilight version called, “Takipsilim”. And mind you, it really made our holidays a horrible one.. >.< ..

I have absolutely no problem with a Filipino version of Twilight. I don’t understand why people are so upset about it.

No way. My classmate forwarded me the link and I was screaming my insides off. Well, basically, you guys think it’s awesome to have Twilight into a TV series but you’ll have to see these actors yourselves. Rayver is NOT Edward material and Shaina will just whine like she always does. Oh my god I hate them. And do you have any idea about the ability the Filipino filmmakers? I’m sorry but this is just so sad. I may be from the Philippines but face it, why did they even bother paying so much for this project? I am not watching this. NO WAY!

Just to let everyone know, BoxOfficeMojo.com hasn’t updated the foreign box-office totals for about two weeks, so the number is closer to 70 million. It will be interesting to see what happens over the holidays. Hopefully the new markets and those of us revisiting it in the initial markets (hint, hint) will help our Twilight to hold its own against the big holiday releases. Personally, I hope that it can maintain a spot in the top 10 through the end of the year, giving it great momentum going into the DVD release. Fingers crossed!

P.S. I’m also holding my breath and crossing my fingers for news of Taylor Lautner’s casting.

Hey, I’m Filipino myself and I think this is a bad idea. Yesterday my little sister was on her laptop and she was on this website —> http://www.bellaandedward.com/?subaction=showfull&id=1230072968&archive= (the news of the Filipino ver. of Twilight). It’s a horrible idea. No offense to them but they have bad acting those two actors and the series will have a crappy quality to it seriously. I think they should try for once and think of something original.

well people HERE thought the american version of twilight was crappy too. so what difference would it make if another country made it? A lot of you sound so selfish to try and keep twilight to yourselves

I really hope they don’t turn Twilight into a tv series ’cause I think that would make Twilight less special. And I really don’t want that to happen.

Think True Blood (yum!) Moonlight (yum!) Kindred: The Embraced (Yum!) All excellent examples of Vampire Love!

I don’t know anything about Philipino TV but sometimes Western TV gets it right.

      Any Jacob Black news??

If a tv series is done as well as Charlaine Harris’ books were in the True Blood HBO series, then that would be ideal.
Imagine the first Twilight bok being given a full eight hours to play out!

It’s so overwhelming to see how much money twilight is making - and it still isn’t released here, in Germany! Me and my friends are going to see it at least 5 times at the cinema… I’m trying to guess how much money it will have grossed when it’ll came out everywhere.. gosh!
