    It’s a Hoax

    By Twilight_News | December 27, 2008

There is no Philippines’ version of Twilight headed for TV.  It was in fact a hoax that totally duped a celeb blogger and several sites.

As hoaxes go, it was a good one. It was timed right before the Christmas holiday making it completely impossible to verify with official sources, who when they get around to reading our email inquiry are going to think that someone spiked our eggnog.

Fortunately someone in the Philippines checked with the management of the station supposedly airing the show and got this reply, "Save the effort and hate words, guys! Buzzbox clarified with ABS-CBN Corporate Communication Head Bong Osorio and after checking with ABS-CBN Television Head Cory Vidanes categorically stated: “There is no plan for ABS-CBN to remake ‘Twilight.’”

This maybe a hoax but I heard from several sources that another Vampire Show for network television is in the future. Someone said they were looking at different book series to base them off of.

Oh, thank God. As a Filipino, I am very happy that this didn’t happen. Still… a part of me is disappointed. XD That would’ve have been a bittersweet kind of thing to watch.

      Thank God!
I was depressed that this is what the fandom has come to. It is a clever hoax though. They had all the actors selected and everything.
I’m so happy this isn’t real though.

Thank goodness. Though, if you think about it, why did the TV Station (who was supposed to do the Filipino Version) posted an article (on the Twilight remake) in the first place, then took it down all of a sudden?

Damn…. I’m disappointed. i would have loved to see it, no matter how awful it was. I love asian dramas. IMO, they are much better than american dramas. Too bad some japanese channel didn’t get a hold of it. They make the best drama shows.

      Thank God!

Wow I got a little scared there for a second. That would’ve been seriously screwed up.

Imagine that! Not just a Twilight movie, but a TV show. It *would* have been in another language, sure, but I kinda thought it might have been cool. =]

Also, I applaud them for not only worrying the living crap out of every fan out there, but also creating such an elaborate hoax! I mean, really! Think of how they executed it so perfectly! RIGHT before Christmas, PLUS they had all the actors. I’m kind of wondering if any of those actors actually exist, though. Would anyone care to verify?

And the dude they picked for Edward was…uh…*less* gorgeous than Rob to put it lightly. Actually, when I saw the fake poster I kind of cringed. He was…not pretty, to say the least. :-P

    30. Mikoy Says:
      December 29th, 2008 at 4:53 pm

Meg, all the actors mentioned are real actors here in the Philippines and I share your sentiment about the Edward they chose. Actually, he is pretty cute but casting him as Edward is blasphemous. They shouldn’t have done that, now everyone thinks he’s ugly when actually he’s not. LOL. Also, I am one of those Filipino fans who panicked like crazy when I heard about the project. I do have faith that Stephenie will not sell the rights just like that but sometimes rumors can be true. So, I sure hope this NO FILIPINO TWILIGHT is final and official and I hope to not hear from it again.

I was utterly horrified at this. I’m a Filipino but I am totally against it. I don’t think they’ll be able to give justice to it. I’m just soooo relieved that it’s not real.

whew!. soo relieved(like others) that this issue is hoax. imagine edward’s lines translated to filipino.. just the thought of it makes my stomach churn. xD

seriously that abs cbn is going crazy will all their remakes..

go stephenie!(for not selling the rights!) yey!ü

    34. Missy Says:
      December 30th, 2008 at 7:31 am

I am SO GLAD it isn’t true!
Of course, it is typical of the Filipino Media to go and do something like that but thank you Stephenie thank God that it is not true!!!
Makes me want to have a party!
Twilight in Filipino would kill the Twilight fan spirit here in the Philippines and that is something I am not willing to go through being an avid fan of the books myself.
      WHAT A RELIEF!!
And who ever started the hoax, all I have to say is “It’s a Twilight thing, you wouldn’t understand.”
      =p
