So here’s what I heard. When I went to the Twilight tour in Chicago, there was a guy passing out papers for this convention. Shortly afterwards, one of the Hot Topic employees came up and said that this convention was a fake to scam people’s money. Of course, I don’t know if it’s true but it definitly should be looked into, if you ask me.

I can guarantee it’s not a scam. Any convention that we post about we have investigated before posting. There are a number of questions the con needs to answer before we risk our reputation posting. This one cleared the process.

There are other cons that we have not posted about because they are not as Twilight focused as they claim, or they have terrible industry reputations. This is not one of those cons.

    24. Jessica L. Says:
      December 30th, 2008 at 7:05 pm

JodeenSings, I called the place and they told me that it’s very teen friendly and it’s not really horror this year but it was chosen because it’s Twilight, and Twilight involves vampires, so yeah. They WILL be serving alcohol, though, but they will be carding. Security will be everywhere and they will have badges. Once you get in, you’re given a wristband for the day as well as a badge w/ whatever package you bought on it so that you can get into all the events for that day with your package. You ARE allowed to leave and come back, as long as you have your wristband/badge. Hope this helps some of your questions.

i’m soooooooooooooo excited to hear this!!!! it seems like nothing ever happens in Chicago (even though it’s just as great as California or New York). i was trying to convince my mom to take me to Twicon but now i can just go to this. it shouldn’t be too hard to convince her since she’s been in love with Peter Facinelli for years, but the only issue is money’s been tight around here :/ but i think i’d give up all my presents for next year to go to this (PLEASE let me get the ultimate package!) lol

    34. puja Says:
      December 30th, 2008 at 9:38 pm

No, I don’t think so…it says they made a discount hotel rate for us though, $99.
      I’m guessing that’s per night..?

And I wonder if that price is the same whether you want a room with 1 or 2 beds. Because then, maybe it wouldn’t be too much if you split up the hotel costs with say, 3 other people, if you go as a group.

      I’m seriously considering going to this… :)

      ____________________

I don’t think there is an age limit on it, as long as you’re comfortable going. If you go and you’re worried about being there by yourself, then you should get someone to come with you. That’s what I would do at least, but I’m going to go with my sister. All I have to say is that they aren’t going to want a group of like, lets say, young kids running around, but they said that they understand there will been teens as well as adults, hence the carded bar. I think it’s up to your own discretion about how old you have to be to go, really, considering it was never mentioned.

Question: For the hotel, is it $100 for one day? Or $100 for all three days? I’m guessing it’s $100 for one day, but man, that’s expensive especially if you add the 245 dollar ticket.

    42. Crystal Says:
      December 31st, 2008 at 1:47 pm

I’m just gonna agree with everyone else. It’s amazing to have something so close to where I live, the midwest seems to get forgotten sometimes. But the pricing is ridiculous!

Twilight is aimed at younger people. I don’t really know anyone who has $425 just to throw away. Argh. So not fair.

Well, I live in chicago… and ummm… I’m not paying $250 dollars to go to a convention… I’m sorry but, like i said with Twi Con, thats too much money… Sorry but it is…

But… I am working on an event to be held in Chicago with a twilight theme… I call it the Twilight Ball. I am working out all the details. All i need is the facility… which i am looking into this month… as soon as i have that with a down payment… I will put up the ticketing info…

fyi it won’t be more then $100.00 It all depends on the location and if its being catered or the facility is profiding the food…

Also, this will be a book and toy drive. I do have a thing about the ball on here: http://www.twilightlexiconforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2159

      ________________

No problem. I called the place with all my questions and ordered my tickets, so I’ve got most of the info that I think we need.

Just fyi, though, for people planning to attend. Food is NOT being given to us, so you must bring money to buy food from the hotel’s restaurants (which won’t be cheap) or money to walk to any of the restaurants nearby which include McDonald’s, Potbelly’s, Panda Express, Chipotle, Chilli’s, IHOP, Gold Coast Dogs, Coldstone, and Rosati’s Pizza. These places are all relatively cheap, food wise, and are within a good walking distance. Most are located in the strip mall with Target which is about 5-10 minutes away by walking distance. Target also sells pizza, pop, and popcorn on a normal basis.

I’m glad that I can be of help. I live right in the area, so it’s easy for me to picture everything. If you want to get a better look at the area, pull up mapquest :)

Of course. It ALWAYS happens on the other side of the country. Like anything would EVER happen on the East Coast, preferably south-ish. -rolls eyes-And like my mom will let me go. I’m still trying to get her to say yes to the Twi-Con! And everytime I ask, it is an irreversable, resounding, “HELL NO.” Life sucks, don’t it?

    52. April Says:
      January 6th, 2009 at 12:16 pm

So I have debated back and forth about what Twilight Convention I wanted to go to because I have work and school (I am just busy). It was between TwiCon and the Chicago Twilight Convention. Well the decision is made I am going to the Chicago Convention. I know that it has been mentioned that this convention is so expensive, but it really is not anymore expensive then TwiCon. Now before you all tell me i am wrong let me brak it down for you.

TwiCon - Benefits: yes more people, more stars and more going on. Ticket price: $255 and the special meet and greet opportunity went to 250 people and it is gone (good luck getting one on resale. Someone just resold her ticket with a meet and greet pass because she couldn’t go and someone bought it for $510 instantly. She probably could have gotten more.) The $255 ticket price only includes 1 autograph. you will have to pay extra for more autographs and photos. Lets say additional autographs are $20 per person and the photos are $50 per person. if you get an autograph from all the people and 1 photo that is an additional $130 and you still don’t have the private meet and greet opportunity. Plus there will be 2500 fans there. Thats a bit crowded for me when I just want to see the stars and you have to stand in line to get good seats for the Q & A sessions. Now if more stars show up especially Rob (which might actually happen) it might be worth going, but I have already met him. Add in hotel and everything else and it is expensive. I have already spoken to the planner of the event and the meet and greet for the 250 people was a “unique opportunity” (in her own words). So don’t expect another opportunity for some private time with the stars

Registration: $255 (that’s for 1 included auotgraph) no exclusive meet and greet
Additional Autographs at least $80 (more if they announce more stars
      1 photo: $50
      Total: $385
add in $99 for Mascarade ball if your going
add in hotel and flight if you do not live in Dallas

Now take the Chicago Twilight convention. For as little as $255 you can get autographs from all of the actors, Peter, Ashley, and Kellen (they say more TBA, but we will see). Plus you get to go to the prom and the costume ball. If you get a higher package it gets even better. Take the ultimate package. You get all autographs, 1 photo and you get to go to an exclusive get together with the stars Saturday night. Plus if you live in the Chicagoland area there is no need for a hotel. AND only 800 people get autographs. Sounds good to me.

Registration: $445 (includes all autographs, preferred seating at Q&A, 1 photo, exclusive party with cast, and tickets to costume party and prom which will have special guest drop ins just like TwiCon).

For $ 340 you will get everything except the exclusive get together.

Anyway, I am not trying to sell you on a convention. I have no connection to either convention. I just wanted to break it down for everyone that thought this convention was so much more expensive then the other. It really is not, you just haven’t counted in all the add ons they will have you pay to actually get autographs and photos.

I would love to get to know everyone that is going to the Chicago Twilight Convention. Please feel free to shoot me a message on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/new_moon_news
