    Twilight Movie News

    By Twilight_News | December 30, 2008

Unless the James Bond film Quantum of Solace makes a sudden comeback in the next 48 hours, the Twilight movie just edged it out for the number 8 slot in the top finishing movies this year. Not that we’re gloating or anything, but what a large number of media pundits dismissed as a "just chick flick that wouldn’t make anything" just beat the testosterone ridden James Bond.

E! Now if you want to take into account money spent vs. money earned, Twilight beat out every film this year.

BoxOffice Mojo According to Box Office Mojo, here are the top grossing films of 2008:

1 The Dark Knight WB $530,896,852
    2 Iron Man Par. $318,313,199
3 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Par. $317,023,851
    4 Hancock Sony $227,946,274
    5 WALL-E BV $223,783,432
    6 Kung Fu Panda P/DW $215,434,591
    7 Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa P/DW $174,862,381
    8 Twilight Sum. $167,325,198
9 Quantum of Solace Sony $164,302,659
10 Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! Fox $154,529,439

Twilight is the number one soundtrack on Barnes and noble and Itunes.
Number 2 on Amazon but soon to be number one and were number one with the ALL books on mostly all the book websites !

THE MOVIE WAS VERY HELPFUL IN THIS so honestly the movie couldn’t have sucked that much if all these people are buying all these after the movie ! I’m so proud that Twilight is doing really well :) AND BRINGING IN NEW FANS YAY !!

Do those figures include DVD sales? Because the first six are already out on DVD, and they opened earlier in the year. Twilight hasn’t even finished it’s run at the movie theaters, it hasn’t even gone to the $1 theaters yet, or to DVD!

This is just awesome, take that to those who thought we couldn’t make it. We even beat out James Bond. Now that’s saying something if you ask me. Twilight may not be on the top ten on the box office, but it’s still on the top twenty. =)

“Now if you want to take into account money spent vs. money earned, Twilight beat out every film this year.”

Actually, it didn’t. If you read the article you see that it beat out the Top Ten films for rate of return, but was sadly squelched by many “lower” films.

“High School Musical 3: Senior Year ($89.7 million), which grossed about eight times its $11 million budget; the Hannah Montana concert movie, which made about nine times its $7 million budget; and Cameron’s Fireproof, which cost $500,000 to produce, and made $33.1 million—or, more than 60 times its budget.”

Still, it was best of the top ones anyway. :)

That wasn’t the final tally for the end of the year. It was 239 mill. Just throws me for a loop when they do this. I bet The Dark Night is getting a lot of residuals from the videos too. Man, I can’t wait for Twilight to come out on video. I will be in my apartment glued to my TV watching it over and over again.
