    By Twilight_News | January 14, 2009

Starting February 4th, Film Independent kicks off Directors Close-Up: Conversations on the Art of Filmmaking (formerly the Directors Series), and one of the panelists this year is Catherine Hardwicke!  She will also have her cinematographer and editor on some of the panels with her.

The panels are every Wednesday at 7:30 pm at The Landmark Theater (10850 W. Pico Blvd.) in West Los Angeles.

Since 2002, this popular panel series, which continues until March 11th, will provide filmmakers and film lovers the chance to hear from the best indie directors and their collaborators.  For full details on tickets and exact times see their website

Edi gathegi was interviewed by phone on a local radio station San Diego channel 933  and fortunately they have a podcast. TY to Carmen.

Twilight made Box Office Prophets Top Twelve list of movie industry stories this year. It came in at the number 6 position.

While I consider myself a loyal and devout Twilight fan, I have to say that the success of the movie is quite undeserved. The movie was horrible…and that is me being nice. I almost couldn’t stay to watch the whole movie…but I kept hoping it would get better. Obviously it did not. I do not understand how Catherine and Melissa could so completely destroy the story. Summit should have chosen a director with legit experience and a screenwriter that could…write.

As far as the potential changes for NM go, bring it on! If Weitz followed the story as it reads the movie would be boring. Not only would we be staring at Kristen’s emotionless face for an hour, but we would feel ripped off of Cullen time. I am hoping since Weitz has screenwriting experience he will repair the undoubtedly messed up script Melissa presented him with. I am so glad they got Catherine out of NM, I shudder to think what the werewolves would look like under her direction.
