Anna Lynn McCord Confirms New Moon Ambitions

    By Twilight_News | February 10, 2009

Anna Lynn McCord of 90210 fame has confirmed that she is in negotiations to play Heidi in New Moon. The only way she’ll cross paths with 90210 co-star Kellan Lutz is if they film the Italian interiors in Vancouver. Still, it’s hard to feel bad for Anna since her prospects probably include Italy, we’re sure she’ll make friends on the set.

Hollywood Scoop also got Anna to comment.

Ya same here mananda. I don’t know if she is the best person to choose.

She is hot, that I can’t deny. But I agree - I don’t know if she’s the best person for it. At the very least, Heidi is a small part, at least in the book.

Hopefully, if she is cast, it ends up working well in the movie. Only about 8 months to go (if it comes out on schedule).

I know nothing about her acting, but I think looks wise, she’d be great as Heidi. She’s got that air about her, as if she knows she’s beautiful.

At least she has a small part, she looks snobby, and what does that part about Kellan mean, he’s not even going to Italy, I don’t think

    8. Sandy Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 7:39 pm

She is dating Kellan, that’s why they had that comment.

After seeing her on Nip/Tuck, I think she’s kind of perfect for the role. She can play B**** like you wouldn’t believe!

she’s good for heidi’s description and part…but i just dont like her. =/

I don’t have anything against her, but I honestly do not want Anna to play Heidi. She just doesn’t seem right for the part, and I’d much rather them pick someone lesser known for the part, like they did in the first movie for the Cullen’s.

Lmao random. But Heidi is a very small role anyway. She fits the discription though.

Oh my gosh, I remember seeing her on the episode of Greek called Friday Night Frights. Da-yum she was creepy on that. So I think she’ll do good as a vampire.

    20. Elaine Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 9:53 pm

Oh god, if she does get the part, I’ll most likely be thinking about 90210 the whole time while she’s doing her part in the big screen for New Moon. That’s not good.

    21. Lissete [Frerard Addict] Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 9:55 pm

“Vancouver”? Doesn’t she know that Heidi’s character lives in Italy??
Well, she IS really gorgeous, and her role is very very small. If she gets the part, great. :)
So…I don’t know why ANYONE here should be bashing her. *ahem* *cough*

    22. Kizmet Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 10:00 pm

      Kate-
it means i have absolutely no hope anymore that the movie will anywhere near do justice to new moon. i wish they weren’t making it.

@kealeah, Heidi is the vampire siren in New Moon that’s the fisher for the Volturi
@ kizmet, is it annalynne mccord?
I read about this a few days ago and I hoped it was a joke, I read/saw these pictures of her being out with her sisters a few weeks ago and since the pap’s were taking pictures of them they started kissing each other and what not. Turned me off of her completely. Though, I will say this…I do believe that she has the looks for the role, and I’m glad it’s a small one.

    24. Theresa Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Anna would be great! Her resume includes many mean, snotty, or evil characters. She’s great in 90210. Besides she’ll be on screen for like ten seconds. Her lines aren’t that complicated either.

    25. CW Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 10:24 pm

Unless they have distorted the story she is only in it for about five seconds.

    26. CW Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 10:26 pm

Wendy: Ick! I hate that girl kissy crap for the boys too. It turns me off “actresses” who do that too.

    27. allisonlovesedward Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 10:34 pm

I think as far as looks go, she definitely fits the part. But I don’t know why they would cast someone so popular for such a small part. Maybe they changed Heidi into a bigger part for the movie. I know that the screen version will never be better than how I imagined it in my head, but I just hope that they at least stick to the true story. I’m really excited to see what they do with it.

    28. amie (vampwolf) Says:

    29. Kizmet Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 11:23 pm

Wendy: no, it’s not her. i’m just more and more disappointed with the twilight movie the more time passes (i had huge expectations for it and they were not met). i’m not convinced that the change in directors and the slightly upped budget are going to do much for new moon, and i think new moon as much more potential for being messed up than twilight. so if they give us bit part to a crappy actress, it’s not going to make the movie that much worse relatively speaking. or at least that’s how i see it. i haven’t seen her acting though actually, she just strikes me as obnoxious.

    30. La_27 Says:
      February 10th, 2009 at 11:35 pm

Yeah I don’t get why she would be filming in Canada either, she must not be familiar with the books yet. The role of Heidi is pretty forgetable anyway, I hope she does nothing more than stands there and leaves the scene immediately. Why waste good film on her part, more screen time for Edward and Bella reunion!

    31. Rachel Says:
      February 11th, 2009 at 12:03 am

I’m wondering if Heidi’s role has been upped by Melissa Rosenberg. The role is so tiny in New Moon, and then we never see her again after, so I’m not sure why this is such a headline.

I hope she’s not being inflated in the movie. I’d rather see more Cullen family screentime.

    32. Alu Rathbone Says:
      February 11th, 2009 at 12:11 am

I hope they make her gain some weight… she’s too thin….

    33. Wendy Says:
      February 11th, 2009 at 12:39 am

@CW, believe me, I was quite disgusted! It’s one thing to do that stuff for the pap’s and it’s a couple, but it was her sister! creepy!
@kizmet, i held off on the books till the movie came out, so i can’t say that i was personally let down with the film (though after reading the books of course I share the feeling that it’s not the same…but objectively i guess that’d be the case with most book to movie adaptations). i do agree that new moon has more potential for being messed up compared to twilight. i’m keeping my fingers crossed though. isn’t the budget only $50 million for the film? TINY!

    34. bonnie Says:
      February 11th, 2009 at 2:29 am

I am wondering why they are getting well know actresses for such small parts? To me that says
big names for small parts = New Moon storyline change. I don’t really care who they choose for people, it won’t make a difference if they don’t stay with the story. Not saying it will be a bad movie, but it just won’t be the real New Moon.

O goodness!!! I think she will be the perfect Heidi!! I don’t think that this actress is THAT well-known. I first saw her on “Ugly Betty,” then on “Nip/Tuck” last season. When I was skimming the articles here, I didn’t even recognize her name, but did know her face. She has the physical aspects to play Heidi- gorgeous and tall.

I do agree with Bonnie, though. Heidi has ONE SMALL PART in the book… does this mean that Heidi will have a bigger part in the movie? To my recollection, Heidi doesn’t even speak in the book. Oh well, I’m not going to worry over this; there’s 9 months left.

I really hope that all this attention for some1 that ’s only gonna say a word or two DOESN’T mean that they are changing the story a whole lot. I hope that that Melissa person STICKS TO THE BOOK this time…

@ La_27 - actually, I think the part of Heidi would be filmed in Canada inside some studio. I don’t think there would be scenes where she’s “fishing” for Aro & Co.’s food around the city (no such scene in the book anyway). If there would be no “fishing” scene, why the actor needs to be in Italy?

My guess is that Canada is where they will filmed the Italian Voltruri interior scene. After all, the Volturi are supposed to live underground, right?

    41. Melisa Says:
      February 11th, 2009 at 8:19 pm

Oh great there’s somebody else named Mel here, I guess I have to use my full name. Not a big deal, I just don’t want our post getting confused.

I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels this way, but I don’t like the fact that there’s people who know or who have worked with the stars in the movie are auditioning for the movie. Who’s next Mischa Barton, Rachel Bilson, some other chick from 90210? If the role is minuscule let some no name have it. If all Heidi’s supposed to do stand there and look pretty (I don’t recall her saying anything) then hire some wannabe model. Don’t pick Anna Lynn, who needs to eat some damn food, who probably wants the part so she can whore around with Kellan…or someone else on set.

    42. CW Says:
      February 11th, 2009 at 8:36 pm

I would have expected that they would have sold the movie out to someone like Victoria’s Secret and then roles like Heidi would be played by Heidi Klum or Tyra or whoever is the latest VS model especially since there is a male director this time and entertainment industry men seem to think women like that are “leaders among women”. So at least they are auditioning women who call themselves actresses.

I found Twilight kind of like the Harry Potter movies. I always go see them and I do like the movies but they are completely different than the books. I’ve read the Twilight books twice. If movie visualizations distract and disappoint you you might try books on CD. When you read you decode on one side of your brain and have to switch the content to the other side of your brain to visualize it. When you hear a book read to you you take the content in on the side of your brain that does visualization and so it is usually much more vivid to hear a book. And then for females when you add in the fact that movies always see the world and story through the distortion of male eyes, books on CD are a good bet.

I already am more impressed with Weitz than Catherine. He seems to understand that Vampires are supposed to be drop dead gorgeous. Thank you! Heidi is such a small part that her acting ability is no subject at all, all she needs is the looks, and dang it, this girl has got looks! I wouldn’t worry too much about the script being different than the novel because Twilight was soo different (did anyone else notice that there were several scenes added or substituted in that were a TOTAL waste of time?), and with Melissa on board for the NM script we can count on there being differences. My only hope is that Weitz, with he screenwriting experience, will be able to repair the undoubtedly depthless script that Melissa handed him. Plus, if NM the movie followed NM the book exactly, it would not be much of a movie. Especially with someone so limited playing the role of Bella. How hard would it have been to cast someone that can play more than one emotion (and unfortunately for us, that emotion was…emotionless).

The Harry Potter movies blew the Twilight movie out of the water. They cannot be compared because the Harry Potter movies were well cast, and for the most part, the screenwriter and director made the most of the time they got for a movie (meaning they packed everything they could into a 2 hr film). The Twilight movie was…an embarrassment to the movie industry. It would have been better had a larger company picked it up (obviously summit did not have the financial means to do it justice).

Is there hope for NM? Definately. Nothing could be as bad as Twilight.
