Twilight The Musical—A Fan Project
By Twilight_News | February 16, 2009
A bunch of fans a have gotten together for a Twilight Inspired Musical Project. So if you’re the kind of person who is or was always in your school’s musical, what have you got to lose? Check out their site and go for it!
For almost two years a dedicated team of Twilighters have been planning to create a musical based on the Twilight books. Much of that team went on to form Vampire Rock band Zenith, winners of the recent Battle of the Twilight Bands. The team has been working very hard over the past few months to make this dream a reality and we are now in a position to begin casting. We have lots of roles to fill and we only have so many band members, and we have decided that the best option is to hold a series of American-Idol-like auditions. Think “Forks Idol”.
If you are a musical Twilighter - whether you sing or play an instrument - then we want to hear from you. Fans of all ages and from all races are welcome to take part - though applicants below eighteen years of age must have parental consent. Auditions, rehearsals and performance will all take place over the Internet so there is no need to travel or to meet up with anyone you don’t know. All you need is an Internet connection, a working microphone (or web cam if you prefer) and basic recording software. We recommend Audacity which can be downloaded free of charge from SourceForge.
There will be nine rounds altogether, each singer who reaches round four is guaranteed a part and from then on we will be concentrating on assigning specific characters. Because those playing instruments will not have to be assigned a character they will only need to get through the first three rounds.
All you have to do to get involved is record yourself singing or playing a song of musical piece of your choice, save it and email it to us. Singing auditions should be sent to vocal [at] twilightmusical.com and instrumental auditions should be sent to orchestra [at] twilightmusical.com. For security reasons files that have been zipped or that have been saved in an unrecognizable format cannot be accepted. All entries must be in by the end of March 15th 2009 and those going through to the second round will be announced on March 20th.

OMG! I can be the next William Hung! “I’ve had absolutely no training.”
Hahaha. Nah. I’ve been told that I have a good voice and I was even in my school’s musical, but I don’t think I’m a great singer. Still, this could be so much fun! I think I’ll actually try this out!
February 16th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
WOW! i love this idea, its amazing! i really hope everything works out! i would love to see a twilight musical. woo hoo! now i am super excited.
February 16th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
wow thats awesome and actually kinda funny lol
February 16th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
I’m definetly in!
I’m a huuuuge thespian, so this’ll be a lot of fun. Does anyone know what kind of song they’re looking for?
February 16th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
Hm. Well, I’ve been in plays since Pre-K (good times…XD), and- though I don’t like to sing- I have been told that I have an alright voice.
So, yeah, I’ll try it out. Should be interesting enough!

This sounds so cool!! Does anyone know if they are looking for dancers as well because I am a better dancer than singer.
February 16th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
JB, since this project seems to be all virtual, I’m not sure if dancers would be needed… Hm… Good question, though
February 16th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
JB, you could probably tape yourself dancing, and they might be able to use that…
February 16th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
I am definitely entering!!! OME!!! This is such a great idea!!!!
February 16th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
ah no fair iv been planing a twilight musical for some time now with coriography and everything. NO FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 16th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
To Katie: Just because a slightly more official group is making a Twilight musical, that doesn’t mean that you still can’t make one. You can make yours known at your school talent show, or whatever! Just be sure to make it different from this Musical.

I’ve been meddling with one for a bit, but I think it’s great that someone’s this organized and proactive about it! If I ever complete mine I’d be interested in doing something like this, as long as it was all right with this team. (We don’t need any animosity in the Twilight world
).
(And hey, sequels are cool too! XD New Moon, Eclipse, BD, etc.)
Anyway, I doubt that anyone would object to more than one.
I’d also like to give more props to the group running this one (and ask when the FAQ and all will be up. I don’t know what sort of song to prepare and what voice part everyone is… xD I’m picky, I know, but I’m a theatre person.).
February 16th, 2009 at 8:19 pm
I am a total theatre person but this idea seems just a little weird to me. I don’t really imagine Edward breaking into song about how much he loves Bella. Or Jacob singing while he’s transforming into a werewolf. I don’t know…just a little awkward. It sounds like it might be interesting, though…
February 16th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
To Cappie- LOL. I know. This isn’t one of those productions where people randomly break out into song- those piss me off as it is.
I would much rather prefer this as a play instead of a musical. But what is done is done. Hey, maybe I can make it a play!
Hey, who knows?
Look out for auditions, people!
(Yeah, no.)
February 16th, 2009 at 8:27 pm
I am a better dancer then singer, but still I love singing.. I might audition
I love Twilight!
February 16th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
LOL. That’s really cool. Since reading Twilight I’ve been joking with my friends about making a Twilight musical. It was just a joke and something we thought about, but it’s cool that someone is actually organizing one. Kudos to them. Too bad I can’t sing because I’d love to be a part of this.
February 16th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
I think this is a really cool idea! I’ll try out, I love to sing! Does anyone know if you have to sing a song from a musical for the audition, or just any song we want?
February 16th, 2009 at 10:21 pm
I wish I could play the piano.But I don’t stand a chance! I’ve never ever touched a piano.Ok,maybe just touched…
February 16th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
Hi everyone,
I’m one of the people working on the Musical. I just came over to let you all know that the FAQs are now up. Hopefully those will help clear a few things up.
Ashley - For the first round of auditions you can use any song. Future rounds will be slighlty more specific.
February 16th, 2009 at 11:57 pm
Dude they only just opened auditions for this one and people are talking about copying the idea already?
Sorry seems a bit odd to me. Plus why write another one when there are so many characters available in one thats already written? You might as well just audition lol. Maybe if they make a sequel and you do well you’d be able to help write the sequel later if there is one.
I love this idea I wish I had a microphone that worked.

Laura: Thanks for getting the FAQ up!
I have to ask, though, will there also be an acting portion of the audition? I am guessing that there will be eventually, but the FAQ says that audio tracks are accepted without videos. (I’m asking mainly because I know very talented vocalists who can not act).
Luke: If you were referring to things that I said, I’m sorry if they offended you. I wasn’t at all talking about copying their idea. The idea has been out there and people have been working on it, but at this time it’s obvious who has taken it the most seriously. (The group who completed this one, I mean).
Besides being an actress and a singer, I’m also a writer. If I continued writing what I’m working on, it wouldn’t be to copy what they were doing, it would be to create something of my own.

This Sound Awesome. I’m Not Entering Though.
Good Luck With It All!
February 17th, 2009 at 9:16 am
Is this open to fans from other countries? Im from england but i would love to take part
February 17th, 2009 at 11:03 am
The only acting we are planning to introduce at this stage is in the singing itself. - putting in emotion without it being too over the top etc.
You can take part wherever you are, Tess. I’m in England too actually.
February 17th, 2009 at 11:10 am
Im giving this a try. I’ve done 18 mainstage/operas, im in 2 Michigan Opera Theater operas, and im a great singer, actress, and dancer. I’ve been a lead almost all the time and i’ve only done all that in four years.
February 17th, 2009 at 11:15 am
Wow, cocky much?
February 17th, 2009 at 11:30 am
i know it was stated that no traveling would be necessary for auditioning, but what about the actual performance/rehearsals? auditioning would be fun, but we obviously can’t be in the show if we can’t make rehearsals/performances.
So, does anyone know more about the dates/location?
Thank you!
February 17th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
wow some people are just a little obsessed…. in a bad way!!! just leave the book alone, and stop butchering it to shreads!!!
February 17th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
I wonder what it’ll be like
February 17th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
Ashley: The rest of the info says that all rehearsals and performances will be online too, though someone will probably confirm that for you.
Midnight Beauty: Ahhh, opera. Any G&S? I’m starting Sorceror in March.
February 17th, 2009 at 4:33 pm
wow, i’ve never heard of that before! thank you
February 17th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
FINALLY! I’m gonna get to be a singer for a freakin twilight thing and it, for once, doesn’t have to be a Twilight PARODY! Hooray! I’m so entering. ~Before. He. Cheats!~
February 17th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
Rehearsals and the performance are online too.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
wqas i was just stating what i’ve done. sorry if i sounded cocky, i do that without relizing it. This question will sound so stupid but Alissie, what does G&S mean. if anyone can help me please.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
I get G&s now. sorry brain fart. Sadely Alissie no. I’ve done Carmen, Brundibar, I Pagliacci, and Les Miz(it’s a play but it’s all singing) for operas. My advice would to work on belting unless your in a chorus. Acting and movement are always important though. Become youre character. Who are you in the play?
February 19th, 2009 at 12:21 pm
With the new information up, I’m even more eager to try out!
I just need to get my parents to say yes!
Wish me luck with that!
February 19th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Good luck
February 19th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
LOL- thanks!
