Joan Jett Gives Kristen Stewart Her Seal of Approval
By Twilight_News | February 18, 2009
According to the Canadian site Contactmusic, Joan Jett is happy that Kristen Stewart is playing her in the upcoming film The Runaways.
It looks like Kristen joins the list of Twilight actors with musical talent. According to Joan Jett, “She sounded great and played well. She has the passion for it, which you can’t really be taught.”
It will be a packed year for Kristen as she’ll be shooting this film around New Moon. Now that Kristen is 18 she has a lot more flexibility in her filming schedule.

I’m definitely looking foreward to seeing this movie. I’ve loved Kristen Stewart as an actress even before Twilight came along.

Now if only she could get a role that would interfere with NM so we could get a new Bella…

oh rachel, maybe rob will get a role that will interfere with NM. kristen was perfect as bella.
February 18th, 2009 at 10:03 am
Rachel why don’t you shut up, obiviously you want to be Bella, but guess what you are not, so curve your jeolusy for Miss Stewart okay.
February 18th, 2009 at 10:12 am
Congrats Kristen!! I LOVE you! I am gladd you are so different then the other younger actresses of today who all they worry about is their weight and getting a boob job.
February 18th, 2009 at 10:22 am
I’ll be able to be a judge of how close she is to Joan Jett…..I got to see her in concert when she was young! So was I and I remember everything!!! It was a great concert with The Stray Cats and Johnny Cougar (better known as John Cougar Mellencamp!!)
February 18th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
K, i wouldnt care if Rob wasnt in NM either, but he does seem to actually care about the role so for his sake I would feel bad. I was not in love with him being Edward though. I would NEVER want to be an actress, and therefore I would NEVER want to play Bella. Kristen may have been your perfect Bella, but obviously my standards are higher than yours…for example, I wished they would have cast someone that could act for her part. And the only people I could possibly think of that would possibly be jealous of KS are people that are either in love with Rob P. or people that have a really boring and pathetic life and they most likely think that she is attractive (which I do not…I think most guys are prettier than her). I do not fit under either of those categories. Just because I did not like her as Bella (and therefore any role that she ever has or will play because she “acts” the same in every role) does not mean that I wish that I was Bella, or that I am jealous of her.
February 18th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
I think she’ll be great as Joan Jett. She looks perfect for the part, and she has that sort of anger that rock musicians usually seem to have.
FWIW, I think she’s gorgeous.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
Hey, guys, no need to fight.
I may have to go see The Runaways. =) Joan Jett & the Blackhearts were a little before my time but I enjoy her music.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
Rachel–your standards are higher? Give me a break girl, that’s just YOUR opinion. I consider my standards pretty high too and for me, Kristen was perfect as Bella. Why do you bother checking these news updates about Kristen when you obviously can’t stand her? Get a life.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
“but obviously my standards are higher than yours” HAHAHA what a joke!! Rachel needs a reality check BIG TIME. Can you sound anymore stuck up?
February 18th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
OH BROTHER! i see Rachel is HERE too having to fill up this comment page with dissing Kristen as much as possible. WE GET IT.YOU HATE KRISTEN. move on now..you have nothing left to say. i suggest with how much of a bad actress you think kristen is that you dont even attempt to see what they do to n.m. stick with the book and make yourself happy. it thats possible.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
I have seen most of the movies Kristen Stewart is in and she does act exactly the same. And I don’t like any of the movies I’ve seen her in. The only reason why I liked Twilight was because I liked the books and I liked most of the other actors in it. Kristen pretty much ruined it for me. And I agree with Rachel that most guys are prettier than her. I don’t understand why anyone would be jealous of her because I’m definately not.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
LOVE Joan Jett & love Kristen! Can’t wait for this film! Rachel needs to shut it
February 18th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
Joanna, they why did you watch all those films? Kristen is GORGEOUS. Good for you that you’re not jealous of her, what do you want, a medal?
February 18th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
Jeez Rachel, I’m sorry but after reading your comment the only thing that comes across from it is that you ARE jealous of Kristen.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
Johanna.. i have also seen all of Kirstens movies and she doesnt act the same regardless of what you think.
you should belous of her. i would bet a million dollars she is far prettier than you and if you thinkmost guys are prettier than her than thats saying alot.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
Always remember its ok to voice an opinion. Everyone is entitled to this. If someone opinion is not to your liking, there is no need to attack them.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
I had to watch those movies in school. I didn’t choose to watch them.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
waaaaaah
February 18th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
But it’s ok to attack Kristen?
February 18th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
Indiesr
yes its ok to have a different opinion and say that you dont think kristen or whoever did a good job,BUT its when they go on and on about hwo horrible and so on thats annoying. its unecessary and WE GET THE POINT with thert first comments.they dont need to leave 6 or more saying how much they dislike Kristen with basically with every single breathe.WE GET IT you guys have make your point(rachel and johanna) move along now.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
other than panic room and the messengers, I really havent seen Kristen movies much, but based on Twilight, I was not impressed, i think she could have “owned” the role better. I also agree that she has the same facial expressions in all that I’ve seen her in so far. However, as a fan of the Twilight franchise, I support her roles, I’m looking forward to Adventureland-it looks funny, and based on her past interviews, she is very excited about getting this role, so maybe she will put her heart into it and pull it off-I plan to see it as well.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
Exactly what i was thinking Beth..and i agree with Solem.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Um lets just reming every one who has to commetn saying that Kristen didnt show very many facial epressions.
HMMMM ARE WE FORGETTING THAT Bellas character HID her Emotions from Edward ALL THE TIME? it CLEARLY remember readings when Edward and Bella was in the restaruant in the book and when he finally starts telling her about himself Bella hides her emotions ALOTand keeps a straoght face so that he wont think she cant deal with what he is telling her. BELLA does this ALL THE TIME,ESPECIALLY in Breaking Dawn when she is being turned and she doesnt move a sinlge muscle OR say a word cause she is scared that if she does she will lose control and that Edward will worry for her.
WHY DO YOU GUYS THINK HER POWER ENDED UP BEING TO PROTECT OTHERS? HELLO? SO THE ONES WHO SAY THAT KRISTEN DIDNT SHOW ENOUGH EMOTON AND HER FACE REMAINED THE SAME…THEN YOU HAVE CONVINCED ME THAT SHE WAS EVEN MORE PERFECT FOR THE ROLE SICNE SHE ALWAYS HID HER EMOTTIONS FORM EDWARD. or did we not read the same series?
February 18th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Hahaha! Awesome comment from Katniss!
February 18th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
hahahahaha.AMEN KATNISS,AMEN I AGREE! BELLA WAS LIKE THAT IN THE BOOK.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
Ok is it really that hard to spell my name right if its right in front of you? There is no “H”! And Solem…I only posted two comments, not six.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
Well i am so SORRY i didnt spell you name perfect
JoHanna, but i was in a hurry. im sure you were well on your way to getting to 6 though.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
waaaaaaaah
February 18th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
Katniss
I have to disagree. There are several areas in the book where it was clear that he could tell her emotions from her facial expressions and her eyes. Her toughts were hidden, not her emotions.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
At one point she even stated herself that he knew her face so well, it didnt matter that he could not read her mind. I’m sure, I read the same series you did.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
I thought she did perfect in Twilight. There are numerous scenes I can think of when her expressions were right on.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Um yea but i would have to agree with Katniss.
she also did hide her emotions ALOT of the times too. ESPECIALLY the times when she was trying to keep a straight face so she could learn more about Edward.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
wel thinking of the time when she saved him from killing himsef is a VERY GOOD example that Edward had NO IDEA what Bella was thinking as he was walking her to the volturi..i remember him in the book asking her after they got back from Italy he aks her.”Yesterday, when i would touch you,you were so hesitant,so careful, and yet still the same. i need to know why?” and so forth. he cant read every single thing or emotion Bella is thinking all the time just buy reading her face.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
I think Kristen was a great bella. She acted exactly how i thought bella should act. She portrayed bella very well. Bella was quiet, and hid her emotions. Kristen acted that way. she is a good actress. I hope she goes far in her career. And she looked just like they described bella. And please dont say she isnt pretty. Because she is. She isnt deathly thin like half the other actresses. She hasnt gotten cosmetic or plastic surgury or whatever. so i think she is a good role model and a great actress.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Kristen Stewart sang in Into the Wild, but I really don’t think she has the pipes to live up to Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation.”
February 18th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
HURRAY MAGGIE! I couldn’t have said it better!
February 18th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
Dolores-Joan Jett wasn’t singing when she was with the Runaways, she played guitar.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
I really don’t think someone who smokes pot is a very good role model. But that’s just what I think.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
Cherie Curry was the lead singer of the Runaways, not Joan Jett.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
Currie, sorry
February 18th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
Joanna
Why do you have to bring that up? Cant we all move pass this? I really can.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
I think she’s a better role model than the majority of Hollwood starlets out there who get plastic surgery, have eating disorders, and CRAVE attention. What she does on her time is her business. That’s just what I think.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
I agree with Maggie too.
I saw Bella as being shy and quiet and i think Kristen did that.
I dont get why if Stephenie can accept Kristen as Bella when SHE is the one who created the characters and knows them better than any other obsessed twilight fan,why other people cant accept her. Stephenie even said that Kristens voice is how she imagined Bella to sound.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
I Joanna is gona cast the first stone.
People do things throughout there lives and thats how people learn from them. can we please not start getting into a debate about how Kristen smoking is going to send her to the deepest depths of hell. But i guess you have never done a singlr wrong thing in you life. i am glad you have turnes out so perfect with no flaws.
Stop judging please.
I agree with Mia
February 18th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
I meant, I see Joanna is gona cast the first stone.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
Yea like Kristen is the first person EVER in Hollywood to smoke. PLEASE I am sure there are lots of people who have and are successful.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Wow CHILL OUT! I am free to voice my opinion just the same as everyone else here! If you don’t agree with it, fine! I don’t care. You do not have to attack someone for their opinion.
Me saying that I have a higher standard that those of you who thought the Twilight film was the greatest thing ever was a simple observation. This day in age the “special effects” alone were enough to ruin the movie. If they did not bother you, good for you!
Ok, so Bella tried to hide her emotions. But she did have emotions. In a book you can read emotions. In a film you do not have that luxury…so if someone is supposed to hide emotions, you should at least be able to tell that they are hiding them. And in case you haven’t read any real critic’s reviews on the movie…most of them agree that KS’s performance left much to be desired. So instead of critizing people for their dissappointment or opinions, just deal with it, and disagree in a more mature way.
No one is debating “how Kristen smoking is going to send her to the deepest depths of hell”. Joanna’s point was that Kristen Stewart is obviously not a good role model. Is smoking pot uncommon for KS’s age group? No, probably a good percentage of people her age have at least experimented. So although she (KS) does typical teen behavior, doing so rules her out as a good role model. Just ask Michael Phelps.
February 18th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
how come everyone always has to gang up on one or two people with different views? I thought the girl that played bella wasn’t a good choice either, but I will not attack everyone who was happy with her.
be respectful.
February 18th, 2009 at 11:40 pm
several thoughts:
1. everyone is entitled to their opinion
2. respect is key
3. Your point isn’t effective when you create 6 sockpuppet accounts to back it up.
4. Telling people they have lesser standard because they don’t agree with yours isn’t really logical either. A lot of it is down to personal taste.
I’m now locking this because I don’t need to deal with people talking to themselves
