Prep for the Oscars
By Twilight_News | February 22, 2009
Rob Pattinson is definitely presenting at the Oscars, but taking a stroll down the red carpet may be another story. It has nothing to do with his screaming public, it has to do with Oscar organizers trying to get more people to tune in. They figure if you see everyone on the red carpet, you won’t bother to watch the show. Apparently they’ve never encountered die hard Rob fans to know how…well frankly DUMB that idea is.

Robert Pattinson Needs Your Support
By Twilight_News | February 21, 2009
Over a Bravo Rob has been nominated for Celebrity A-list Breakout star.
4TNZ has Rob nominated for Best Head of Hair. No word yet if the New Moon makeup artists are out buying copper colored hair extentions.
Next up is the news that Rob’s Salvador Dali film, Little Ashes, has been postponed until May 8th. The film was originally scheduled to debut on March 27th, the same day as Kristen Stewart’s film Adventureland. Both films have gotten excellent buzz especially Adventureland at Sundance. It now looks like the competition is off.

SAG Getting Ugly Again
By Twilight_News | February 21, 2009
Things are heating up again over at the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) talks. If SAG does strike, it will knock out major TV and film project this spring including New Moon. Twilight narrowly avoided the fallout from the Writer’s Strike (WGA) last year. Most of the script was penned before the strike, and the strike was settled just prior to shooting beginning. In the last two months we’ve seen:
- Warring factions with A-list actors taking sides and taking out dueling ads in industry papers.
- Talks back in November with a federal mediator present tank after two days
- A strike vote that was originally scheduled for right after Christmas wisely get postponed
- And perhaps our personal favorite the firing of Doug Allen (their chief negotiator) in a not so secret palace coup
So why are we bringing this up now? This is what the studio bosses said when talks broke off Thursday:
“this is our last, best and final offer”. The went on to say, “The terms in the offer are the best we can or will offer in light of the five other major industry labor deals negotiated over the past year and the extraordinary economic crisis griping the world economy.”
That’s an ultimatum if we ever saw one. Expect people to be polite and not really mention it too much until Sunday’s Oscar ceremony is over. After that it’s anyone’s guess as to what SAG’s next move is going to be.

Taylor Lautner Pops By InStyle
By Twilight_News | February 21, 2009
Taylor popped by the InStyle offices for an interview. He’s Japan bound, along with Robert Pattinson for the Japanese premiere of Twilight. They are crazy for Twilight in Japan. One of the very first languages Twilight was translated into was Japanese. So, the fans there have been gearing up for awhile. We are seriously betting that the screaming is going to rival the LA red carpet.
Speaking of screaming fans, Taylor mentioned to InStyle:
“The 17 year-old has been hit with such a fan base that he no longer can go to malls, but he can occasionally find a solitary moment for a meal at one of the local restaurants in his neighborhood. He also told us that he learned the hard way NOT to go see his movie opening weekend–he went to Universal City Walk to catch Twilight with the movie-goers and ending up having to be escorted out by the secret service because of the fandemonium.”
NOTE TO TAYLOR: If you get the munchies, do not assume you can just walk out of your hotel in Japan and go for sushi…BAD IDEA.

Chris Weitz Will Not Direct Eclipse
By Twilight_News | February 20, 2009
Hot Off the presses from Entertainment Weekly:
Chris Weitz will not direct the third film in the Twilight series, Eclipse, a source close to the production tells EW.com exclusively. Because New Moon, which Weitz is helming, and Eclipse are due to be released so close together, Weitz will be in post-production on New Moon at the same time that Eclipse will be shooting. That said, the source confirms a report that the movies will not be shot simultaneously or back-to-back; there will be a brief gap between the production of both films.
So, anyone want to start guessing who will get the job for Eclipse? This is very typical for chain movies to have more than one director. Anyone have any names they want to throw out there? How about Mimi Leder?
