The Volturi eventually burned down their castles and killed their entire family excepting themselves. (BD33) The Romanians have harbored a vendetta against the Volturi for over fifteen hundred years, but have never had the force to stand a chance against them. (BD34) They were sincerely hoping that the confrontation between the Cullens and the Volturi would turn into a battle since those gathering around the Cullens were so strong (BD34), and they were disappointed when Alice’s last minute arrival gave the Volturi the out they were looking for.
